All fires, whether burning wood, smokeless coal or gas, emit carbon monoxide. Sweeping the chimney or flue ensures that they are clear from obstruction and that dangerous gases such as carbon monoxide are discharged safely from the property.
Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week aims to get people talking about the dangers of carbon monoxide, the signs of carbon monoxide poisoning, and steps that can be taken to keep people safe.
